But what we see today is much worse – a situation where the mainstream media is crawling without even being asked to bend. Primetime slots are full of news about the IPL, and updates on the lives of celebrities and political leaders, while real issues such as farmers' suicides, economic crisis etc. are taking a backseat. In this interview, NewsClick talks to senior journalist Paranjoy Guha Thakurta about the changing trends in Indian media, and the threat these trends pose to independent media in the country.
