If BJP wins Bengal, democracy dies

Criticising the Left for tying up with the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1989 to dislodge the Rajiv Gandhi government, West Bengal’s Education Minister in the Trinamool Congress government in the state Bratya Basu argues that there are no anti-incumbency sentiments against his leader Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Answering a wide range of questions on topics like the teachers recruitment scandal and religious polarisation in West Bengal, he says that if the BJP wins in the state, democracy will die in India. He made these observations in an exclusive interview with Paranjoy Guha Thakurta.
