What is law? What is justice?

There are 1,333 jails in India with over 500,000 prisoners, 3/4ths of whom are “undertrials.” There are over 50 million cases. In this podcast, we look at the cases involving students Akriti Chaudhary and Sahil Lochab, District Magistrate Medha Roopam whose father happens to be the country’s Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. We examine how the local executive apparatus can contort legal mechanisms to stifle dissent and bypass standard judicial scrutiny, and remember the cases of Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam.
