Music As Protest: The inimitable Rahul Ram live

This video is the eighth and last in a series of eight (8) video recordings of the performances of artistes at the “Music as Protest” festival that took place on the 2nd of December 2024 at Jawahar Bhavan, New Delhi, India. The event held on a Monday evening had an audience of more than 300 and was organised by Janta Radio.

Rahul Ram studied chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and obtained a doctorate from Cornell University in the United States, before deciding to become a full-time musician. He was one of the founding members of “Indian Ocean,” one of the most popular fusion music bands in the country, and is the current leader of the band. He is also one of the three members of “Aisi Taisi Democracy” together with Varun Grover and Sanjay Rajoura. He has adapted the tunes of popular Hindi film songs and placed lyrics on contemporary issues on them.
